In 2005, Fibreco added wood pellet handling to its original business of wood chip handling. The decision to expand the capabilities of the existing facilities was fueled by the demand for wood pellets from European markets.

Modifications to the original Fibreco facility include the construction of storage silos as well as tripper-style conveyors with a full length enclosure. The ship loader has also been modified to allow delivery of pellets to the vessel. Alterations to the existing rail-car dumper allow for the receiving of wood pellets from railcars onto the conveying system.

Once wood pellets are delivered onto the first conveyor, pellets are either forwarded to storage silos via "inbound" conveyors or "hot-fed" directly to ships via outbound conveyors.

Wood pellet loading rate is a minimum of 800 metric tonnes per hour.

The storage capacity of each silo is 4500 metric tonnes.
